Healthy eating
« on: August 30, 2007, 08:54:05 AM »

21,000 people were monitored on their eating habits and after 3 days, NONE of them met the RDA of nutritional requirements!

5 pieces of fruit = 9% of the population.
It is now suggested as 12 pieces of fruit or vegetables.

Each breath is a billion free radicals, so take plenty of anti oxidants, especially if exercising!

2/3 of all visits to the GP are stress related.

Pause for thought:

What costs more, the prevention of disease - or - the treatment of disease?

What sort of foods are classed as 'anti-oxidants' ? i know that oranges and fruit in general are anti - oxidants - Vit C ??  Any other foods that are potentially high in 'anti-oxidants'? or is it mainly the citrus fruits ?

If only fruit tasted as good as chocolate  ::)

There are many anti oxidants. Vitamin C, Vitamin E, Beta Carotene, Lycopene, Pycnogenol etc. Basically oxygen forms free radicals in our bodies and the anti-oxidants help eradicate the damage caused by them. In other words we are going rusty!

Try this experiment: Your mum probably does it with making a fruit salad. Take an apple, cut it in half and leave one half on the plate, but squeeze lemon jice over the other half.

Email me back about what happens!

Can I suggest that you get with a Personal Trainer for accountability as this is usually what is lacking in some people to lose weight and get a fitter  healthy lifestyle .

I don't care if its with me or another Personal Trainer but believe me it works and its the kinda kick start everyone needs to get on the track to a healthy life style.

Anyway look into getting someone on board as its a great way to become accountable. If you've got friends that can join in for support then even better !! As I use to do group training and its lovely seeing Groups work together and when I take them through the workout they are very supportive with eachother and its always good fun ;)

All the best ! :)
