Are people up for a small gatehring, say a BBQ when Shihan is back. I was thinking something like Aug 16th for the afternoon. Let me know your thoughts ;D

Oxford Karate Academy / BBL seminar

Just a message to say thanks to all concerned for two excellent sessions at the BBL seminar. The first session was excellent and I felt I really took home a lot of knowledge from the training. Jamie's teaching approach was excellent. The second session allowed me to get a good sweat up and I felt I was finally getting the hang of the throws we had looked at in earlier classes. One last point. It was great to see all the new faces from other clubs and during training the attitude was excellent. It really was like we had been from one club.

One last point, a big well done to Joe Calzaghe.....good lad ;D

Fitness / Strength Building

I am wondering the best use of push ups to help build upper body strength. Is it best to focus on as many reps as possible with little recovery time, or is it better to do a significant amount over a longer exercise period? I understand the principle of using high weights and low reps to build muscle and low weight high reps to build endurance, is this sort of applicable to push ups. Any advice would be greatly received.
