Thanks for that John. I'm glad the bug stayed with you, but then we've always kept in touch. How's life in Surrey? Maybe open a dojo yourself!
Here's your email from 6th June 2005.
After nearly 23 years since I first walked in your Dojo up the Banbury Rd I
have finally passed my Shodan (Round of loud applause).
Due to breaks caused by (and in no order) Women, Beer, university,
children, marriage, laziness, fear, SCUBA diving, work, and
procrastination I finally took my exam on Sunday. I never should have
stopped training as it would have been a lot easier in my 20's or 30's
rather than my 40's.
I have to say thank you to you as you were my first inspiration for Karate
and GoJu in particular.
Now all I have to do is wait for the bruises to heal and I can go to
training on Wednesday.
Take care
JG
